Sorry I haven't been posting much guys, its been a hectic couple days, but I'm back now to tell you all about the wonders and joys of a Volcano Vaporizer (if you smoke weed.)

A vaporizer, in case you don't know, makes your hits much smoother and healthier. Instead of burning the plant material it simply vaporizes the THC in the weed. This means less smoke is coming out, but it is much purer, so you get just as high if not much higher.

If you've never seen a vaporizer before, you're probably wondering how you smoke out of it. Well its actuallly pretty simple. First you turn the volcano on and set your temperature, the new Volcano's have a digital temperature reading to let you know what the temperature actually is. There is a bowl at the top which you unscrew and put your herb in. You then screw the lid back on and the top has a small opening. There is a bag that is fitted over the opening. Once you have your herb and bag in place, its time to turn the fan on. The fan then blows the very hot air into the bowl and it vaporizes. The vapor rises into the bag and fills it up, leaving you with nearly pure THC.

Inhale and enjoy!

If you haven't tried one I would definitely recommend one, wikipedia explains it as such;
The Volcano Vaporizer has a conical heater base with controls for manipulating the airflow and temperature. It is manufactured by Storz & Bickel, a company based in Tuttlingen, Germany.
The air collection system consists of a heatproof bag, a set of valves to control dispersal, and a chamber in which the material is heated. The cannabis or essential oil is heated by a variable temperature, pressurized hot air convection stream, and the resultant vapors are collected in the heatproof bag. Once the bag has inflated, the user removes it from the heater base and inhales or otherwise disperses the vapors using a set of valves.

If you don't smoke weed, which some of you may not. I will leave you with this masterpiece.
I look forward to reading all your comments and blogs!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-74475901149995161582011-02-20T15:16:00.000-08:002011-02-20T15:17:50.111-08:00Oops!So among all the excitement of creating my website, I forgot something key to my blog, the weekly awesome amazing crazy top 5 list of excitement. I was to do them weekly every Saturday, but on only the second week I failed you guys.

For that I am sorry.

Anyways, this week I'll do an easy one, the top 5 internet videos ever. I remember some of these from when I was really young, and some of them are fairly new, but one thing makes them alike. They are all hilarious!

Honorable Mention: Justin Bieber get's riddled, and I mean destroyed, by bullets on CSI. I officially love the writers of this show now, what more can be said?

5)Numa Numa guy- I will start the list with one of the oldest viral video's I can remember seeing. It featured a man in his mid 20's sporting a pair of headphones. The man was overweight and took up most of the screen, but when you heard the first line of his song you could not look away. The song, was the numa numa song. And the man, was the numa numa guy, and the encounter was equal to the first time chocolate met peanut butter.

The video was hilarious! Yet so simple anyone could do it. It was simply a man lip syncing a song, but somehow it could keep me watching numerous times. The best thing about the video is that you're laughing with the guy, not at him. You can see he's having a great time! So you feel a little better about watching it.

4) Evolution of Dance- Now, this one isn't as good for its comedy but it's still one of the best. It's simply a man going through all the dances he could think of all conjured up into one, megadance. The concept sounds easy enough but when the man in the video puts it all together it becomes art, and some of the parts bring back hilarious memories, hey the whole thing reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite to be honest. I heard something about the guy being a motivational speaker now or something, that's a great job for him, his only other real option would be back up dancer for some kind of band...I can't think of any band that has music like that. Nevermind.

Anyways here it is in all its artistic glory, the evolution of dance.

3) David After Dentist- This video had me laughing so hard when I first saw it. It's simply a kid who's very, very...VERY high after leaving the dentist. The kid seems to be in some kind of half real half fake world and can't seem to keep focused on anything.

This video spawned such great quotes as "is this real life" "is this gonna be forever?" and the very memorable and rage fueled "AAAHHHHH". David is like that kid high on LSD in the corner of the room playing with the plant who everyone just walks by and laughs at. I hope David does not end up down that path.

2) Star Wars Kid (and all its spinoffs)- Now, the story of the Star Wars kid is quite a tragic one, but that is not what this blog is about, if you want details look em up on google :), anyways the Star Wars kid was a video that some high school students found in one of their High Schools video recorders. The students popped the tape in and saw a student (whom they considered nerdy) flailing around a broomstick like it was a lightsaber. They then distributed it to other students and eventually it hit the internet.

Now the video itself was funny, but not nearly as funny as the many spinoffs, I'm going to post the original here but it's not hard to find many of the spinoffs that are out there.

1) Winnebago Man- Ah, Jack Rebney. A man who I have laughed at, a man who I have learned from, a man who has given me comfort and, an RV salesman. I can't remember the first time I saw the Winnebago man video, it has been that long, but even now when I watch it years later it still brings me comfort. No matter how mad I am I know that I can at least tell this guy to calm down.

The man has taught me alot without knowing it. Jack has taught me swearwords and sentences that I never would have though of before. "Can you do me your kindness?" is now something I say out of habit when I'm yelling at someone. Jack also taught me to let it all out sometimes. You can't always be the calm cool and collected person everyone expects you to be, sometimes you need to swear! Sometimes you need to swat angrily around at flies! These are basic things.

The reason this video is my number one is not only because of the video itself but also the documentary it spawned (under the same name "Winnebago Man") The documentary looks to track down Jack Rebney, and has a lot of trouble in the beginning, but after a few months they finally find a way to contact them. Anyways they find Rebney as a recluse (it is assumed he was lead there after he found out about the video) who was pretty ignorant of the world around him.

Rebney seemed to think everyone who watched the video was laughing at him, instead of being angry with him. We felt his suffering! We've all had bad days, we felt his angst, but he didn't see it that way. Jack chose to ignore the world around him except for a select few.

After months of contact the director and crew finally convince Jack to attend a Q&A at a found footage festival. Jack comes in skeptical almost looking embarrassed when he hears the laughter of the audience. When his name is announced though, things all change. The room stands in applause as Jack makes his way to the front of the room and we are treated to an amazing story of human understanding, and in some ways forgiveness.

Anyways, heres the video that started it all!

I'm having a bit of writers block this morning, so I'll do an MMA related post, since I've been trying to set up my website all morning. I'm sorry I haven't been as active as usual, but once my sites up and running I'll be back on track.

Anyways, coming up in just over a week from Australia is a pretty interesting fight, its determines the next contender for Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre (unless the Anderson Silva superfight happens). The fight is between 2 all time greats BJ Penn and Jon Fitch. The two are polar opposites of each other. One is a very hard worker who trains very hard, but bores the fans with his dominating style. The other is a lazy former champion who could beat anyone on a good day. The one thing they have in common though, is within the last 2 years they have had their title shot against GSP, and both have failed miserably.

The difference though is that since the hard working Jon Fitch lost to GSP back in 2008, he has gone an undefeated 5-0, while BJ Penn, who lost to GSP in 2009, has gone 3-2 overall losing twice to the much smaller (yet much faster) Frankie Edgar.

I don't agree with this being a title contender due to the fact they have both gotten demolished by GSP, BJ Penn has only won one other fight at Welterweight (against Matt Hughes) and it wouldn't be fair to those who had worked their way up the division. Although Jon Fitch has beaten the top of the division (well, those he doesn't train with), does anyone think his fight with GSP will be any different?

Regardless this is a very interesting fight and I have no idea who's going to win. BJ Penn has the KO power and some of the best Jiu Jitsu in North America, but on the other hand Fitch has great gameplans and finds ways to stifle the opponents.

Although I don't agree with it being a title eliminator I'm looking forward to the fight. Blogger, who do you think will win the fight next Saturday?Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-31129809557648006112011-02-17T12:15:00.000-08:002011-02-17T12:15:36.218-08:00Good afternoon bloggers! Last night I wrote a quick bio on the Ratpack, the group of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin who often performed together. Like many of you may have, I got my first real taste of the big band jazz and some blues thrown in from Fallout 3, sure I'd heard some of it before but I didn't really listen to it consistently until I played that game.

I would listen to the music in Fallout 3 all the time while I was playing it, but when I wasn't I would stick to more modern stuff. Not until the release of Fallout New Vegas did I really get hooked on the big band music. The song featured 2 members of the rat pack (Dean Martin with "Somethings Gotta Give" and Frank Sinatra with his rendition of "Blue Moon"), the rat pack, coupled with the familiar blues of the Ink Spots, the game not only had me hooked but the music did as well.

Now back to the subject at hand. I will now give you a biography on the ratpack, enjoy!

Through my research I have learned a lot of things I didn't know before. The rat pack was actually a social drinking club started by Humphrey Bogart in the early 1950's. This club was known as the Holmbly Hills Rat Pack, and was centered around Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. The original group did not include Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr. at that time.

But tragedy struck in 1957, and Bogart seemingly succumb to his fame, and weighing only 80 pounds fell in to a coma and never awoke.

This left Frank Sinatra as the head of the rat pack. And he began to associate himself with new stars such as Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Shirley Maclaine. After the death of Bogart, people who were members of the rat pack no longer referred to it by that name, it was simply a name members of the public and media, would call the rat pack, and it was a name that stuck.

In 1959 the rat pack came to public prominence. That year was the first time a member appeared on another members album (Frank Sinatra conducted for Dean Martins album "sleep warm"), Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Shirley Maclaine starred in the film "Some Came Running", and it was the first year they appeared on stage together (Frank Sinatra appeared unnanounced at one of Dean Martin's shows at the sands)

After that historic night showing up unannounced at each others shows became a regular gig. This caused excitement and sold out shows nearly every night for the swingers. Some hotels would even write on their signs "Dean Martin- Maybe Frank- Maybe Sammy".Their constant shows created a country-wide buzz and gained them fame all around the United States.

After this, the rat pack released their greatest and most memorable project to date, Oceans 11. The rat pack filmed this movie during the day and then performed during the night, much to the delight of the sands, their new regular home.

Dean Lawford, who was a prominent member of the rat pack, was also the brother-in-law of president John F. Kennedy. That relation led to the rat pack doing many media appearances supporting the democrats. The attention no doubt helped, and JFK was invited to a performance, which included a custom built helipad. But JFK's brother , Robert, advised him to sever all ties with Frank Sinatra, and Kennedy canceled his stay and stayed with Rat Pack rival Bing Crosby.

This infuriated Sinatra, and Frankie immediately blamed Lawford for it. Sinatra then wrote Lawford out of upcoming movie "4 for texas" and he was replaced by Bing Crosby himself in the movie "Robin and the 7 Hoods). This was the beginning of tensions within the rat pack, and Sinatra asserting himself into a leader type role.

Not long after the sands hotel was sold in 1967, the rat pack began to crumble. Frank Sinatra was cut off from his credit at the Sands, and this infuriated him. Frank reportedly threw furniture at the Casino manager Carl Cohen, who then proceeded to knock some of Sinatra's teeth out. In case it isn't obvious, Sinatra would no longer be performing at the sands, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis jr. remained at the Sands, and the ratpack all went their separate ways.

In 1987 they released Cannonball run 2, which was their first and last movie together since Robin and the 7 hoods.

Also in 1987 they returned to play a sold out show of 14,500 in a reunion tour. Tensions still seemed to be hot between the three, and each had acquired individual success and knew they would not have to rely on one another anymore. In their sold out show Martin threw a lit cigarette into the audience which caused uproar. Martin then left the tour saying he had "kidney problems" and Martin was replaced by Liza Minelli, and the tour still attained great success.

After the tour they did not appear publicly to often and all went their separate ways..

Although the rat pack is gone they will always be remembered through their amazing music, great movies and memorable lifestyle.

I hope you all learned something I know I learned a ton.
I will leave you with this video to remember the good times! One of the best videos I've found.Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-91346695278288696992011-02-16T20:40:00.000-08:002011-02-16T20:40:54.305-08:00Goodnight all!Tonight I'm not going to post much, but a quick little bio on the rat pack, one of my favorite groups of all time! I will write a more in depth bio on them tomorrow so stay tuned.

Anyways. the rat pack was a group of 3 crooners from the 1950's by the names of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior and Dean Martin. The three were pertinent in Vegas and were star attractions at local casinos and clubs. They were known for their low singing voices and swinging music. They were generally backed by a big band. Although the "rat pack" were never officially a band (to my knowledge right now) and wrote most of their music separately, their similar music styles blended so well that their shows were flawless. Although everyone remembers Frank Sinatra over Dean and Sammy, the other two achieved their own fame in their own right. That's all I have time for today but look forward to a more in depth bio tomorrow.

I'll leave you with this video though, enjoy!
Stay tuned for the website within a couple weeks!

On Saturday August 14th, Dalton McGuinty (the premiere of Ontario) announced his groundbreaking decision that he would be moving forward, and he would allow MMA to be legal under the sactioned rules of the New Jersey Athletic Commission. This announcement meant that tens of thousands of MMA fans in the GTA would now have access to UFC shows, but not only that, up and comers could now fight in their home province at local "independent" MMA shows, which will most likely lead to more gyms being opened.

The legalization also meant a large boost in the local economy around the time of the event (approx. $6 million dollars or more), including factors such as event tickets, hotel rooms, meals and more. And that's for UFC 129 alone! It's hard to believe that McGuinty turned that down in the first place.

UFC 129 is not only historic in that it is the first MMA show in Ontario, it is also the first stadium show in North America! Generally in MMA stadium shows only work in Japan, as their population is much move involved in combat sports (i.e. Judo, Wrestling, Kickboxing, MMA, Pro Wrestling) and can draw a much bigger crowd. UFC took a gamble by deciding to choose the Sky-dome(I refuse to call it Rogers Center) as their first Venue in Ontario's biggest city, but it certainly paid off. UFC originally set the Sky-dome up to hold around 35,000 people, but in the pre-sale (in which you needed to pay $70 to register) the tickets sold out, and at the limit of 8 tickets a person, that's a minimum of $306,250 on pre-sale memberships (not event tickets) alone, not to mention the hundreds who bought pre-sale passes and were left out in the cold when they weren't online right at the buzzer.

After selling out the 35,000 in around 10 mins, they were forced to release more for the newsletter presale the next day, and the 5,000 or so they released for the free presale were gobbled up quicker then you could blink your eyes. Then for the public on sale date of Feb 12th, the 5,000 or so more they released were quickly bought out as well. At an event where they were skeptical of selling 35,000 they had sold an extra 10,000 in record time. (in perspective 11,000 people attended Strikeforce on the weekend). The tickets ranged from $50-$800 dollars from ticket master, but people are hard pressed to find anything less then $200 now.

The sellout smashed previous UFC attendance and sales record, which was 21,451 at UFC 97 in Montreal (us Canadians love our fighting I guess)

With this record sellout I expect to see at least 2 UFC events per year in the GTA.

UFC 129 will not be the first sanctioned MMA event in Ontario though, as a small show being held at Casino Rama in Orilla has slipped through the cracks and will be held around a month prior to UFC 129. The show will be called "MMA: The Reckoning!". The show will feature Canadian prospect Chris "The Polish Hammer" Horodecki vs. a yet to be names opponent. The show should be good but is in my opinion overpriced for a non-UFC event. The cheapest seats are $60 (on par with UFC's cheapest, but most likely much better seats, and the most expensive are $200, which seems a little much for a show with a bunch of up and comers.

I wish "MMA: The Reckoning!" success, but I think it was a bad move scheduling their show before UFC 129, it would have been a much better idea to wait for people to buy and pay off their UFC tickets before they held their show.

Thanks for reading and I hope to update my blog sometime today!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-38142952761685083862011-02-15T20:45:00.000-08:002011-02-15T20:45:50.643-08:00Back to my Roots.Hey Blogspot!

So today I decided I would revert back to my roots and talk about paranormal/ fourth dimension type stuff, and todays topic is something I don't see come up very much, and that is the topic of aura's and how we link telepathically.

It all starts when you can feel that person across the room staring at you, you don't know what made you look up, just an uncomfortable feeling you can't put your finger on. You look up to find someone looking directly at you, not just a glance but a stare. You wonder how you felt this, why did you feel uncomfortable when you had no way of knowing that the person across the table from you was staring, it just is.

I believe the reason this happens is what is known as "aura's". In this particular circumstance it refers to your emotions being projected, without the use of the known senses. The person sitting across the table gave you no way of knowing he was staring, he didn't yell out to you, he didn't project a bad odor, he didn't poke you or make a funny taste, and he didn't make a large movement to attract your eyes, the simple action of him staring was enough to give you chlls.

I believe in aura's in the sense that we subconciously project a signal, almost like a radio wave. This radio wave in a way broadcasts our true intentions. (that means when you get a "bad feeling" about someone, it may be their subconscious signal being broadcast to you, and their values do not match up with yours).

Aura's would also explain claustrophobic people or people who don't like their personal space invaded. Their aura projects itself in a way where it doesn't want to be interfered with. When another person's aura interferes it causes them to stress and panic, as they start getting mixed signals in their subconscious.

Whether you believe in aura's in the sense that I explained them ,or whether you don't, there is one thing that's for sure (to me at least). There is some force greater then ourselves out there, a force that connects us all.

Anyways I thought I'd leave the fourth dimension with a strange blog to end off today. I didn't get a chance to revamp my blog tonight (damn social life getting in the way of my blogging), but look for the update sometime tomorrow! I hope to be more active in the future, but I am unable to blog much at my work so time is a little tight lately.

I can't wait to read more of what you all have to say tomorrow.

Once again I'm sorry for the delays, but I look forward to reading all your blogs tonight!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-79703997570150834252011-02-14T20:34:00.000-08:002011-02-14T20:34:56.729-08:00Goodnight BlogspotSo today I was pretty inactive, sorry blogspot! I was working all day and then ended up going to the bar. I read all your comments though and I'm glad you're enjoying my blogs! I'm sure as hell enjoying yours. Today I'm going to leave you a quick article on what is quickly becoming my favorite beer, Kronenbourg 1664.

The beer is amazingly smooth, making it great for any drinking occasion. It is great with a meal or on its own. Today it is served prominently in France, served in many vending machines, local convenience stores and movie theaters, and is even sold in McDonalds!

When I visited France I was surprised at how popular this beer really was and I decided I would see what was behind the hype. I went to my hotel lobby to the vending machine (I was 14 at the time but vending machines don't ID you) and tried the beer. It lived up to the hype and it had a taste unlike any other. In the years after my trip to France I had forgotten the name of the beer, that was until I visited a local bar and saw the logo I had all but forgotten.

Man and beer had finally been reunited after to long.

I have now decided to look into the history of Kronenbourg, and here it is in brief;

It was founded in 1664 by Geronimus Hatt in a Strasbourg, France. Geronimus was an entrepreneur who had just gotten his brewmasters license and began his Brewery. It survived both world wars, and has since been bought out by Carlsberg company, but its legacy, name and taste still live on today.

I would recommend this beer to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.

Goodnight bloggers and I hope be more active tomorrow!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-89189867378323146832011-02-14T05:46:00.001-08:002011-02-14T05:46:28.312-08:00Good Morning Fourth Dimension!Hey bloggers!
Today I'm on another early shift at work and because I missed you guys so much I decided I would post a mobile blog at work. Now this will be much shorter then usual and with no visual attachments this may be hard on your eyes.y,

Well here goes. Ladies and gentlemen we all know what day it is. Its a day of love or a day of envy, a corporate "holiday" which can either make or break your spirit. This holiday, is valentines day. As much as I would love to go into the history of valentines day, that would be extremely tedious to do on a phone. I will say this though; if you have somebody hold them tight and appreciate them on this day of love, if you find yourself alone today what are you doing on blogspot? Go out and be struck by cupids arrow of love! ;-)

Anyways bloggers sorry for only the short blog this morning, ill be sure to read everyones comments when I get home and this morning ill leave you with this. Who is your movie character crush? Mine would have to be Uma Thurmans role as Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction, she is cool, tough and feisty making her character much sexier then just the actress. Anyways what movie character does blogspot wish they had woken up with this morning?

Happy blogging!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-11100009175628305282011-02-13T18:43:00.000-08:002011-02-13T18:43:05.137-08:00Early Goodnight Blogspot!Well, tonight I'm posting my signoff a little early. Today I spent most of my day just lazing around the house and removing a virus from my computer I got last night while watching a video stream. It wasn't to hard to find out how to get rid of it, it seemed like a lot of people had it in the past. I'm sorry for the lack of content lately I've been having writers cramp in the idea's department.

Tonight, I'll leave you with an easy brain teaser;

A square medieval castle on a square island is under siege. All around the castle there is a square moat 10 meters wide. Due to a regrettable miscalculation the raiders have brought footbridges, which are only 9.5 meters long. The invaders cannot abandon their campaign and return empty-handed.
How can the assailants resolve their predicament?
(note. you cannot tie/attach 2 footbridges together in any way, and you do not want to fall into the moat)

Hope you enjoy this one! Post your answers! I'll see you all tomorrow and happy blogging!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-59561322981887378422011-02-13T11:45:00.000-08:002011-02-13T11:45:43.881-08:00Good afternoon blogspot!Ah, nothing like a good nights sleep then waking up to blogspot! Thanks everyone for the interest and I'm loving your blogs! Keep em coming,

Today I'm going to go back to the fourth dimension route and write about the paranormal. This time though, I will talk about Aliens and UFO's and my experience.

So it was a warm clear night in my small town, and me and a few buddies were hanging out at a local park. It wasn't really any different then any other night, not much to do in a small town so just hanging out is all we really had to do. Anyway we were talking, and all of a sudden I noticed something that looked like a helicopter that hadn't been there when we were looking 30 seconds ago. The "helicopter" was about 150-200 ft in the air and it appeared to be beaming down a searchlight that didn't quite hit the ground. Upon closer inspection it didn't quite look like a helicopter though, it was more of a triangle with the tip pointed towards space and the bottom beaming out the light, while looking through pictures it looked similar to, but not exactly, like this;

When we noticed it didn't look like a helicopter, I remarked that it was probably a UFO and one of my friends said "I don't want to even think about it". About 20 seconds after I made the remark, the flying triangle disappeared in a burst of light. Prior to the incident I was quite skeptical that Aliens had found us, I had no doubt they existed but I had always hoped we would find them before they find us. After this though, I am a true believer.

I haven't told many people because I don't want to seem crazy, and I would call anybody crazy who told me the same, but I decided it was something I would share with you blogspot! I hope you enjoyed this short story and I'll leave you right now with this.
There was also an announced return of one Gina Carano, who has just come off shooting a movie due out this summer.

That was not the biggest surprise to come out of tonight's Strikeforce event, no, the big news is former #1 p4p king Fedor Emelianenko's loss to 5-1 underdog Bigfoot Silva. And it wasn't a quick submission like Werdum achieved, but it was a brutal beatdown where Fedor's face was busted up worse almost as bad as anyone I've seen. It was a horrific sight, a man who was undefeated until early last year being beaten down very convincingly. Fedor looked almost in tears between rounds 2 and 3.

And just like that, referee Dan Mirgliotta called a stop to the fight, and Fedor had now lost 2 in a row after a record 10 year undefeated streak. The unthinkable happened and the only constant thing in MMA is now gone. With that came the even more surprising announcement, which was immediately booed by the fans in the arena, yes Fedor announced he may be retiring following this performance. If this is true, it would be the worst ending to the greatest legacy in the sports short history.

With that I leave you with this Fedor highlight just so you can all see how amazing he truly is.
Now, time for me to get off this thing, I look forward to reading everyone's blogs in the morning!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-77275601797240964712011-02-12T15:42:00.000-08:002011-02-12T15:42:36.656-08:00Good Morning Blogspot!Well not quite good morning, but today I'm posting my blog a little later then I usually do. I worked all day and couldn't wait to get back to my Blogger! I came up with a new idea for a weekly blog, a top 5 list. I will review the top 5 best or worst of a given category, feel free to post suggestions for next weeks top 5 list!

Today I decided I would begin with an easy one. Given the fact that I spend much more time on the computer then watching the TV, I decided I would compile a list of my top 5 best TV shows on TV currently, as I don't have much of a range to choose from. I chose not to include any specials or the like, only weekly seasonal TV shows.

So without further adieu, I give to you the inaugural "Ramsay's Best/Worst Super Saturday List!" on the top 5 Television shows on TV right now. Enjoy!

Top 5 Television shows currently on the air.

5. Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live is now on its 36th season and year, and continues to produce quality sketches and stars! The show began because the producers felt that there was nothing that was groundbreakingly funny on TV, just old recycled comedy used for years. The producers embarked on a quest and assembled a cast of 9 actors, mainly from theatre groups such as second city, and began brainstorming ideas for sketches. They decided they would have a different host and musical act for every episode. The first season of SNL was basically that, an assortment of brainstormed sketches. This cause a mess, and they would usually be stuck writing scripts even after the show had already gone live. The show drew a small amount of buzz, and was enough to get them signed onto NBC for a second season. The second season is where the show really took off.

It became the "cool" thing to watch and many people began to adopt the SNL style of humor. The popularity of the show created such mega-stars through the years such as John Belushi (had a number one album in the blues brothers, a number one movie in animal house, and was featured on the number one show SNL all at the same time! No wonder he succumb to the stress), Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Will Ferell, Chris Farley and many, many more. These mega stars gained their fame from the show, yet also ensured the long-term popularity of the show, as everyone is watching to see who the next big star is.

That popularity attained in the 70's has carried over to today. And I believe the current cast is one of the best in many years! You have the amazing creativity and originality of Andy Samberg and the lonely island, the great comedic timing of Kristen Wigg(my favorite current SNL player), the snarkyness of Seth Myers and the comedic experience with Kenan Thomson(I can't remember a time where he wasn't on my TV), Bill Hader and Fred Armison. This mix of unique characters gives SNL a great chemistry, and is producing some of their best material in recent memory!

4. Mantracker
This is a show some of you may not have heard of. It's a little gem that airs on the Outdoor Life Network here in Canada (I'm not sure if it airs in the states. It is a fairly new show focused around an experienced tracker and an accomplice who is familiar with the local land. The duo then set out to find two "escapees" who are unique on every episode. They are two friends who are chosen from entries. These escapees are known as "the prey".

The Prey begin in a location that is not disclosed to the man tracker, and the two teams are placed about a KM away from each other. A flare signifies the start and the prey must begin to search for their location(once again, undisclosed to mantracker). They must reach the location before mantracker is able to find them, or before their 48 hour timer runs out. I don't know what exactly the prize is but I hope its worth it for what these people go through.

This is where it gets interesting. Throughout the show you get to learn the personalities and characters of both the escapees, and mantracker and his random ally. It is a classic case of the hunter and the hunted, and the suspense that it creates is like no show I've currently seen. Watching the mantracker follow their movements while the prey unknowingly searches for their destination, watching the prey use tactics to outsmart and outmaneuver mantracker, seeing the intensity of the chase, they all make this show one of the best on television for me!

If I were you, and you haven't seen this show yet, I would certainly recommend you check it out!

3. History Channel's Reality Lineup
Recently history channel has begun to air these reality TV shows which are aimed at peoples careers, almost like a mans version of TLC. Anyways, their strategy worked and people are completely sucked into their shows, they have unique characters with unique professions and you can't wait to see what they're going to find next.

Pawn Stars- This is my favorite of the History Channel reality lineup. It is about 4 guys who work at a pawn shop in Las Vegas, and the stories of everything that is brought in. The people who work in the store are (usually) very knowledgeable and if not, they will call in an expert. It seems like their store is a haven for rare and unique items and people tend to go there to sell those items. The characters on the show and their antics (i.e. Clumsy Chumly, Grumpy old man, The dad who laughs at all his own jokes and the "rebellious son) mixed with the amazing items that are brought in every episode make this show thoroughly watchable and enjoyable.

American Pickers- American Pickers is a show about a tall skinny outgoing guy and a short, chubby almost awkward guy who go out to various houses looking for old stuff that they can resell. It seems their targets are horders and it's pretty neat to see what these people have collected over the years, and how much it is actually worth in current day. These guys will spend hours on property digging through stuff we would classify as "garbage" to find little gems that make them cash. It's an interesting profession that I had never heard of prior to the show. This show is another one you should check out if you haven't already.

Now I haven't checked out "Swamp People" yet but it seems like it would be a pretty interesting one as well, so I'll have to check that out soon.
2. Big Bang Theory
This show about a group of 4 nerdy friends who go awry when a hot girl moves in across the hall from them, and a hot girl who will pay attention to them. This creates for some hilarious and original situations and characters, such as;
Sheldon, this man has an IQ higher then yours or mine combined, and is not subtle about it either, he tends to correct everything people say and has smartass input for almost everything his friends have to say. His character is able to create a hilarious situation out of almost anything unintentionally. Sheldon is also very easy to convince, as he takes himself and everything else very seriously
Raj, this man is a Dr (not 100% sure of what) and has come to America from India. Raj seems to have trouble adapting to our society, and finds himself unable to talk to women (unless he is drinking). This also creates some funny situations, such as when a girl he doesn't know asks him a question. Raj also always seems to be able to get the most girls, making it hilariously ironic.
Wallowitz- Wallowitz is the jewish engineer who still lives with his mother, his friends make fun of him for not having a doctorate, but Wallowitz seems to be pretty confident with his work and has even contributed to NASA. Wallowitz can talk to women, but women seem unable to talk to him.
Leonard seems to be the normal one on the show, he eventually goes on to date Penny (before getting dumped a few days later) their friendship continues though making that ex-couple awkwardness on the show,
And finally, Penny, Penny is the hot girl who lives across the hall mentioned before. Pennys willingness to talk to them has them baffled. Penny often doesn't understand what the nerds are talking about and has little to add to their conversations, but a lot to add to the comedy. Penny brings to life how smart and nerdy these guys really are compared to a "normal" person.

This combination of characters create unique and hilarious situations, and I find myself learning something new every episode. I imagine you've seen this show before but if you haven't this is a must watch.
1. The Office
This show is an American rip off of the British version, or so I thought and has now become my favorite show on TV. When the show began they used the same situations. lines and nearly identical character names, which made for an uninspired show. When season 2 began airing though, this all changed, and the office began to to come to its own and began to incorporate their actors/actresses unique improv abilities to its fullest. Now on its 7th season the office is still going strong with an all star ensemble of Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson John Kracinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms and Craig Robinson. Each of the actors/actresses listed have been in several high grossing movies and the popularity has skyrocketed!

Now, with Steve Carell leaving the show, it is unsure who will replace his role as branch manager. My bet would be on Craig Robinson (Daryl Philbin) filling the spot, but as of now this is unsure.

The characters are able to create, once again unique and hilariously awkward situations. Each actor/actress seems to have remarkable comedic timing and dedication to their role. I'm hoping the show will keep up its hilarity after the departure of Steve Carell, and I have high hopes that the all star cast will do just fine by themselves.

GaGa's crappy but catch tunes are played at work my at least 3 times a day, I see her in magazines, I hear her on the radio, I see her on TV, there's just no getting away. She seems to have this style that makes people hate her, but are unable to turn away, almost like a trainwreck.

I was recently reading the blogs I had subscribed to and came across a picture posted by http://metastreamer.blogspot.com/. It was a picture of David Bowie from ala 1970's Ziggy Stardust, and it got me thinking.

Lady GaGa these days seems to have the media these days in the palm of her hand, everyone seems to be buying into her persona, and when people buy into her persona it gets them to not only interact with her music, but Lady GaGa the person as well. This in turn creates a bigger permanent following who will attend her shows(I don't know if concert applies) and buy her albums regularly. GaGa has created a cult following and it doesn't seem to be dying down anytime soon. Now I could go into how Lady GaGa and her types are destroying our youth and culture, but I'll save that one.

The fact is though, that when Lady Gaga dons all her makeup and a crazy outfit designed to make her look more insane then her last appearance, she is instantly recognizable. Now, I cannot confirm this, but I'm almost 90% positive that growing up, "Lady GaGa" did not wear any outfits or crazy makeup the way she does now, she is simply portraying a character.

Now, way back in the early 70's, a man named David Bowie realized that in order to create a legacy and make himself remembered (and not just his music), that he must gain a following of dedicated people who will buy his album and adore anything he puts out. David Bowie wasn't the first to realize this, as Elvis Presley and The Beatles (among many others) all had a certain persona that made people remember who they were. David Bowie was, however, the first to create a completely larger then life persona that grabbed peoples attentions and made them incapable of looking away, coupled with good music to boot!

Back in the 70's though there were no music videos and media was not nearly the same as it was today. Yet David Bowie decided that to create his legacy, and gain a loyal following he would have to create the "larger then life persona" I mentioned. Prior to his transformation Bowie wasn't well known in the American music world. He had already released the "Space Oddity" and "The man who sold the world" albums, which reached number 5 on the UK billboard chats, but with little airplay in the US he didn't have quite the international following he wanted. He realized he must act quickly, and that's what he did.

Bowie arrived in the US in 1971 to embark on his first tour. Bowie decided that to create interest and buzz he would don a dress and makeup on stage to be different. Bowie not only wore the outfit on stage, but to any interview he did as well. The US had quite mixed reactions to Bowie's actions, and most were not positive ones. It's ever reported that a gun was pulled on him on one of his tour stops by a man telling Bowie to "kiss my ass" (whether or not it was literal we will never know). While in New York he met up with local underground stars Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. Lou Reed was known for his warming melodies mixed with great guitar riffs, and Iggy Pop was known as a drugged out rockstar who would always put on an amazing performance for the fans. Meeting these people in new york changed Bowie's life, An ex-girlfriend recalls "scrawling notes on a cocktail napkin about a crazy rock star named Iggy or Ziggy" who wanted to appear as "someone who had just landed from mars"

Due to that meeting in New York Bowie had found his image by combining the great music of Lou Reed and the stage presence of Iggy Pop, and went immediately to work on testing out new images.

What happened next, biographer David Buckley says,"challenged the core belief of the rock music of its day" and "created perhaps the biggest cult in popular culture". in 1972 at the "Toby Jug Pub" in England, Ziggy Stardust was born, and to great success. It boosted Bowie into superstar status in England, and a few months later he released "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" album. The Ziggy Stardust managed to stay on the English billboards for over 2 years, and catapulted his previous CD's and tracks back onto the billboard. The tour soon rolled into the US, this time to more success then his first venture.

The second tour catapulted "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" as well as "Space Oddity" and "The Man Who Sold the World" onto the billboard charts. Shortly after his first tour he also released "Aladdin Sane"(which made it to #1 on the UK billboards)

This fame, however, came at a great price, and it is still a demon that haunts Bowie to this day. Early into his transformation Bowie described Stardust as "Offstage I'm a robot. Onstage I achieve emotion. It's probably why I prefer dressing up as Ziggy to being David.". This was the beginning of his cycle into madness. Bowie began portraying the Stardust character on and off stage, and after a while it became hard for him to separate the two personalities. After years of playing the character though, it became impossible. Bowie said, "wouldn't leave me alone for years. That was when it all started to go sour ... My whole personality was affected. It became very dangerous. I really did have doubts about my sanity." He had become so deep in the character that he lost himself.

Bowie still to this day doesn't seem like the same as he was pre-stardust days, even in the way he looks (comparison picture)

I felt the need to write more about David Bowies en devours as GaGa is more recent and more well known, and her career exploits are all fresh in our memory.

Now back to Lady GaGa, ya remember that girl I started the article off with? Ya, if you noticed her career almost completely contrasts Bowie's, she has created a persona to gather media attention. GaGa was catapulted to #1 on the billboards and will remain there everytime she releases a new album. Gaga took a bland and boring music scene and added a unique character not seem before, for that she has my respect...but I still can't stand her music.

I wrote this as just kind of an observation I had but I guess I could throw in this question as well. Do you guys think that if Lady GaGa continues this character that she will go down the same path as Bowie? And do you think if she did stop portraying that familiar character if she would be able to retain fans?Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-58498318832776049652011-02-10T19:38:00.000-08:002011-02-10T19:38:32.476-08:00Goodnight blogspot!Ah, today was a good day for the new blog. I think I'm finally starting to figure out how to blog right, my page isn't all caps anymore, people are actually reading my stuff, its a good feeling and I owe it all to my followers, couldn't do it without you! I'm planning on releasing an MMA related website in the near future so I hope people will be interested and I can get that up and running.

But for now I shall stick to this random little blog in my little corner of the internet.

Tonight I will leave you with this little gem...

Most of you have probably seen this, but many of you may not have seen the "Winnebago Man" documentary. In the beginning it feels as though Rebney is being exploited, he seems to have been forced into meeting the film maker and you feel like no good will come out of this movie. It almost seems as if it would turn into the Jack Rebney RV videoshoot all over again (the director even states this in the movie) in the end though, we see something different, and I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who had laughed at this clip in the past, it will give you some real insight into the man who is...Jack Rebney

Goodnight followers of the fourth dimension! Happy blogging!Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-54619954602824901812011-02-10T16:24:00.000-08:002011-02-10T16:24:24.422-08:00Charlie Murphys True MMA StoriesWas browsing youtube today and came across this hilarious clip. If you've seen the Chappelle Show's "Rick James" clip, and watched the fight on Saturday night, you will find this hilarious.

It is said that these interviews were taken a few days after the event

If you didn't watch UFC 129 I'd recommend looking up a few fights, but the card as a whole didn't quite live up to the hype. For example Rich Franklin vs. Forrest Griffin was supposed to be fight of the night (or as Forrest said, fight of the year) but was a 6.5/10 at the very best. Miguel Torres, exciting former bantamweight champion, also put on a less then exciting show and although he got the victory, showed nothing which got him on to his path to greatness before.

On the other hand, Paul Kelly and Donald Cerrone put on an exciting scrap which won fight of the night honors. Cerrone started the fight coming out with a half-assed gesture to touch gloves, Kelly recognized this as a technique often used in boxing (pawing) to set the opponent up for strikes. This lead to a misunderstood rant from Joe Rogan, and the fighters ended up talking it over after the fight, where Cerrone was able to land a rear naked choke for the victory. Jon Jones also went on to steamroll Ryan Bader, defending every takedown and dominating him in grappling and striking on his way to a submission victory. After the fight Jones was awarded the submission of the night award as well as a title shot at UFC 128 against champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.

Although Jones' victory and title shot were quite exciting, the highlight of the night was Anderson Silva's front kick knockout, featured in the video above. Anderson was able to confuse Vitor on the feet and found an opening at 3:25 of round 1 to secure his spot as best Middleweight in history.Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-40445025726353146282011-02-10T07:32:00.000-08:002011-02-10T07:32:39.679-08:00Good Morning EveryoneGood morning everyone! I woke up early this morning because UFC 129 tickets were on sale in Toronto, first event for them in the city and there was no way I was going to miss it. I hope you guys enjoy it! I will try to update daily(its hard though) so you guys will all have fresh content :-). Enjoy the random thoughts to come and consider this...day one, hour one, second one.
The timer begins.Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-72575731218005391952011-02-07T18:00:00.000-08:002011-02-07T18:00:15.486-08:00Finally set up!So after a few days of putting it off, I now finally have my blog set up, now time to find some followers...
New blogspot, new computer, new TV. I guess now its time to take over the world.

I'm going to start my first real blog in the coming days, right now I'm simply working through the kinks and trying to think of content to publish over the interwebs.

Lets start off with something paranormal/4th dimension like.

With all these paranormal shows on TV now the topic of spirits and ghosts seems to be more popular then ever. With many people already having an opinion on whether or not they are in real or not. Our society says people who believe in spirits/ghosts are crazy, which is why most people are so quick to dismiss the idea of their existence. These people will often use the "you're crazy" excuse, rather then thinking of a reasonable argument as to why they believe they don't exist(which could cause them to change their mind) At the same time our society which brushes certain spiritualism off has many superstitions and religions, which punishments are based on paranormal forces (e.g. western karma believes that do good things, and good things will come and vice-versa.) they are basically admitting to a higher power, but will not admit to the fact of walking souls on earth.. In other societies, on the other hand, spiritualism is a huge part of their culture and the basis of their morals. (e.g. don't do bad things or bad spirits will come). The fact that so many societies follow a similar spiritualism outside of god might say something about our lack of comprehension, while it could also just be a scare tactic passed through history to create solid morals. Could a lack of spiritualism cause us to turn a blind eye to paranormal forces that would be otherwise obvious?

With that being said I don't thing spirits existing are a sure thing either.

The arguments for and against such "paranormal activities" are almost pointless, as spirits are something we can not detect with our senses but simply feel. The argument you normally hear in favor of such spirits is that "unexplained things happen alot around me", and the arguer is simply looking for some explanation. Skeptics will say something like "there is no proof that they do exist, therefore they do not". Both arguments are based entirely on opinion and are therefore not real arguments. I have never personally seen a ghost, so I cannot confirm whether they exist or not, but I do agree our society is to dismissive on the subject.

So with that needlessly long post I'm going to stop myself for your sake and mind. My question is...
Do you believe that spirits or paranormal forces (outside of religion) might exist?Ramsayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13102009474593659659noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2683869985908500969.post-58684869239103512622011-02-04T15:07:00.000-08:002011-02-04T15:07:00.193-08:00Hey all!Hey everyone,

So I'm new to this blogspot thing, and decided I would finally put one up. This is a place where anyone can come and read about the thoughts and ideas that come from the brain of Ramsay. For the first time ever you will be given a chance to step into, or attempt to step into, the mind of Ramsay.

So I will be revising this site and its layout within the next few days.
